Little Red...

//Plaid wrap (exact wrap available at Circle Seven Outpost and Provisons) /White button down /Necklace (similar linked) /Link bracelet (similar linked) / Cowhide Bag /Boots //

Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a weekend filled with family, friends, and tons of food! I am still fighting the food baby but that's okay because the leftover pecan pie was totally worth it.

Today I am sharing another festive outfit featuring Circle Seven Outpost and Provisions. Plaid has always been my winter go-to, it's such a fun classic! This winter season I have also been loving the cape trend, and this perfect little wrap is 2 in 1. Plus you can't go wrong with the houndstooth inside, adorable hood, and it's under $50! I cannot wait to whip out all of my Christmas sweaters and scarves because December is here!

P.S. Thank you to my Uncle JP for letting me shoot with another one of his beautiful cars!

Mac's Famous Apple Cake

Today I am sharing with you all a recipe that goes wayyy back in our family. Around this time each year we make this cake along with other foods we love such as my dad's homemade trash (like chex mix, but better) or apple pie. Man, let me tell you, there is no better smell that puts me into Thanksgiving mode than the smell of this cake baking in the oven. It takes me back to when I was a little girl and my whole family would stay up late cooking and preparing for Thanksgiving.

Ingredients: 1 cup oil, 2 cups sugar, 2 eggs, 3 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. salt, 3 apples (skinned and chopped), 1 cup nuts (we normally use pecans), 1 tsp. nutmeg (freshly grated), and 1 tsp. cinnamon and vanilla.

Put the flour, salt, and baking soda in a sifter to sift together.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Throw in the apples and nuts.
The most efficient way of getting the ingredients all mixed together is to use your hands.
Spray your pan reallly well.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour and let it cool before taking it out of the pan.

Dust the cake with a little powdered sugar and voila, it is finished! If you do try this recipe, let me know how you like it!

Playful Pups

// Shirt /Vest /Ray-Bans /Jeans /Boots (similar)//

How precious are these pups on this button down and vest? Not to mention the pop of this red vest is oh so festive! I was completely sold when I saw them displayed on a mannequin in the store. I think it is so fun yet in a way, very classic. I find all of Circle Seven's clothes to be beautiful and timeless.

It is great having an uncle who happens to be a race car driver and has an assortment of really cool cars to pull out for my photo shoot. Thank you so much to my Uncle JP who let me shoot with some of his awesome cars (& sweet little Cayenne, his shitzu)! Check out this website for some information about my uncle, Jim Pace, in his next race!

1 Year!

One year ago today I created Sweet Potato Pi. How. time. flies. It honestly feels like just yesterday I was sitting on the porch with my mom thinking up names to call my blog. One year is not a long time at all and I still feel so new to blogging! Though in a year, I feel that I have changed and grown along with my personal style. I love being able to look back (and sometimes laugh) at pictures of myself and see how I have physically changed. Blogging has been a joy from the start and I don't know who I'd be without this small outlet of self expression.

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the people who have taken the time to read my little blog. I'm glad to see it's not just my mom!;) Thanks for reading for one year, and hopefully many more to come!

With winter coming around the corner faster than my eyes can blink, I rounded up several winter staples to share with you all! I have found these pieces to be on repeat in my closet during the wintertime. What have been some of your fall/winter staples?
