Outfit: Gingham + Purple

I have been loving the gingham trend lately and since it's all I've been wearing, here is another outfit! For me, blue and purple go together like navy and pink, you can't go wrong! And that is exactly what I've paired together today.

High/Low

(I meant to post this yesterday..oops! but I'm so glad I because my #4 high happened just this morning!)This will be the first of a new weekly post I am adding to the mix: High/Low. This post will simply be my weekly "highs" and "lows", things that have popped up on my radar, things that I've been loving, and things that I have not enjoyed so much.  My family asks this question around the dinner table and have always called it high/low, so I felt the name would be appropriate. Hope you enjoy!

This week's highs:
1. Lilly for Target! Okay, so I guess this is my crazy Lilly for Target experience, compared to some of the hard core stories I have read, mine isn't much story! (I guess I'm just not that dedicated of a Lilly lover) I stayed online until. When the site crashed I hit the hay. I woke up at 7:00 to find that the whole collection was sold out online but the one item I really wanted(the happy challis romper) was still in store. So I thought after church I would just swing by and pick it up. Not a chance. Target stores around the world were sold out in a matter of 10 minutes! But not to worry, resourceful Lu to the  rescue! I found my romper on Ebay the same day and for only $45.(originally $34) That was a pretty big high this week.

2. My homeschool tennis team has played very few matches this season due to the rainy weather we've been having, so we were all very excited we had a sunny day Tuesday to be able to play (and win!) our last match. We look pretty normal for homeschoolers, right? ;)

3. The RARE sunshine sightings. I am so done with April showers and am ready for May flowers and more sunshine! Wednesday there was not a cloud in the sky and I took advantage of it and did my schoolwork outside by our pool. (homeschool perks to the max)

How could I do schoolwork by the pool without an occasional swan break? These inflatable swans are the bomb, you can find them here.

4. Hoppy Poppy. This morning I was sitting in our playroom and out of the corner of my eye I saw a little creature hopping across the floor. My first thought was that the cat had brought in another snack if you know what I mean. I told my dad to watch the cat while I go catch this thing. I ran to the dining room and found it was a little baby bunny! My sister and I named him Hoppy Poppy. We did have to let him go though because of our cat, but we have a few little bunnies we see every now and then hopping around our yard so we hope he will find his way back to his mama!

This week's lows:
1. The ACT. Psych! I didn't actually take it. I was suppose to take it Saturday but I printed out the wrong ticket. I accidentally printed the ticket for the June ACT and not the April ACT. I arrived on time, had a good breakfast and a solid 9 hours of sleep and was ready to take this test when the teacher tells me I'm not on the list. Okay, I know for a fact my mom signed me up for this test. Then the teacher takes me to the head lady and she tells me I have the wrong ticket. But I tell her, again, I am signed up to take this test! She even finds me on the roll sheet and tells me the right room I'm suppose to be in. Hello, I have my ID, I am present in front of you, and I just called my mom to bring me the correct ticket. (s/o to my mom because she was not very happy about the whole situation and I needed those scores to get into my dual enrollment classes next year) Why wouldn't this lady let me test? Ugh, I am still mad at my myself for carelessly looking over that. HUGE low for the week.

Outfit: Embroidered

One of my favorite trends of the spring/summer are boho chic embroidered tops/dresses. I am obsessed! I've seen them all over Pinterest and normally boho isn't my style... but in the outfit I'm sharing today, I think I've done a pretty good job of making it a bit preppier and more my style.

2 Ingredient Coconut Macaroons

Last night my younger sister wanted to put on a "restaurant style" dinner. She set the table, came up with a menu, and called her restaurant Bangledicious. It was quite entertaining. She was struggling to come up with a dessert menu so I lent a hand (along with cooking the entire dinner #bestbigsisteraward?). I clicked around on Pinterest for some easy desserts and stumbled across this awesome buzzfeed filled with a lot of yummy looking 2 ingredient desserts. I decided to make this one. Y'all, easiest thing in the whole world, literally 2 ingredients, and super delicious! Checkout the link for the recipe!

I shared a pic on my Instagram right after I made them. If you missed it, you should follow my Instagram @_sweetpotatopi_ !!

Outfit: Romping Around

I have always loved rompers. They are so easy to throw on and head out the door and make it seem like you put a lot of effort into it. It is hard sometimes though, for me, to find the perfect romper. It (and the rest of my clothing decisions) normally has to meet these 3 things 1. the shorts have to be long enough to look like shorts. 2. It has to be comfortable.  3. It has to be cute. You would not believe the tons of rompers I have come across while looking for ones that meet my criteria. Now, I'm not much of a snob when it comes to modesty, but when it comes to comfort, modesty normally falls into place. This is the definition of my perfect romper. Cute, comfortable, and carefree!

Easter Sunday

Here are a few pictures I took on Easter Sunday. We used to wake up bright and early to hunt eggs before going to church and having lunch with our aunts and uncles. This year, our parents told us the Easter bunny died (lol) but we did still have family over for lunch after church.
One tradition we have is the family picture before we leave for church. Thankfully this year no one ended up in tears.
We had a delicious buffet style lunch complete with an assortment of the cutest little Easter sweets!

My youngest cousin, Sonnie, enjoying an Easter cookie:)

Do you have any traditions for Easter? I would love to hear!

Road Trip

Yesterday, my family took a little road trip to see my grandparents. They live an hour away from us in a quaint little town with only one stoplight. My grandfather is 82 and is still working as a family doctor there, so went drove down to have lunch with Nana and say hello to Doc. There is a wonderful little restaurant there that was closed for a time and just reopened and that is where we ate.

I had forgotten how delicious their catfish was!!
After lunch we went to my grandparents' house and reminisced of childhood memories my siblings and I have made there. Around every corner it seemed like we would say, "I remember this, I remember that!" or, "This seemed so much bigger!"

In case you couldn't tell, I get most of my fashion sense from my grandmother.

I also got to look through some of my Nana's coat closets and found these vintage pageant dresses that were handmade by an old family friend.

I think it's neat how she has kept all of these beautiful things! I love spending time with my grandparents and hearing all of the stories and wisdom they have to share. I hope that one day I will have gained as much knowledge as my grandparents. The love they have for each other and for their family is inspiring. This year they will celebrate their 63rd anniversary!
We all had a fun time on this short little road trip and I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading!

Outfit: Gingham Skirt

So basically, I buy most of my clothes from my favorite consignment store. Needless to say, just about every outfit I wear consists of at least one piece that has been thrifted. Go consignment/thrift store shopping now if you haven't already. There is nothing I love more than finding unique and vintage pieces for not very much money. Even though you probably will not be able to replicate any of my outfits piece for piece, I hope it gives you a little inspiration regardless!
Today I am sharing a recent thrift find, this J. Crew gingham skirt! I was so lucky to stumble across this and for only $9!

Side note: It was 84 degrees outside when I took these pictures
