Outfit: White Crocheted Dress

Another off the shoulder dress, are you surprised? But it was on sale for $34, how was I suppose to pass that up?! I love wearing dresses with cowboy boots, and I felt this was the perfect dress to do so! Something about it just takes me back to my southern roots. After seeing this dress on so many other bloggers/ you tubers and then finding it on sale, I think I checked out in about 2.5 seconds, ha! (In case you wanted to know, I found this dress at Nordstrom.com! I love online shopping through them because they have free shipping both ways.)

Sweet 16

Here are just a few pictures from my sweet 16 I had last Thursday night. Thanks to my mom who helped pull it all together, it was a fun night!

Everything was decorated white, pink, and gold (my favorite!) and the dining room was filled with sweets for my "sweet" 16! Outside, we had the drinks on a table under beautifully strung twinkly lights coming off of our porch. It all looked great and I think everyone had a good time.

Outfit: LBR

LBR= Little Black Romper. Now, I know I've said in the past how this clothing item or that clothing item can easily be dressed up or dressed down, but let me tell you, this one beats them all. Nothing compares to a little black romper, it should be a staple in every closet. Here, I dressed it up a bit with my favorite turquoise beads and a shnazzy clutch, but you could also dress it down with white sneakers and a denim shirt tied around the waist. The options are limitless! It can easily be accessorized to fit anyone's style.

Sweet Potato Pi

I know that this post is long overdue. Partially because I have been busy and also because I did not know what to write about. And that got me thinking... "How did my blog get it's name in the first place?"

 The blog came about because I love (1.) clothes/ fashion (2.) finding good deals on clothing and (3.) writing. (Plus a little bit of everything in between) I had always wanted to start a blog but had been too scared. I'm not sure what of exactly, but one day I decided I was going to do it. I sat down with my mom and asked her what I should name it.  Our minds drew blanks. Ha! So we do what we always do when we are in a fix. We call my dad.

The first suggestion he had was Sweet Potato Pie.

There are many nicknames in our family. Some of mine are: Lu, Lusausage, Lulabell, Lucy Goosey, Saucey, Louisa May, and Sweet Potato Pie. How those were derived from Louise Montgomery, I will never know. Mom always says, "A child with many names is well-loved." My dad's favorite nickname for me has always been Sweet Potato Pie. He is an architect and has always tutored me in math as part of our homeschooling. Nerd alert: I've always prided myself on knowing the first 10 digits of pi.

We loved my dad's suggestion, but lets be real here, that name was taken. :) So we shortened it and decided to throw in my homeschool life as well.

This Week

So, I just realized that it is Friday and that I have not posted a single blog this week! Whoops! As some of you may or may not know, I turned 16 while I was at camp and just got my drivers license! I am super pumped about that.(I got my brother's hand-me-down car!) I am also pumped for starting  my senior year of high school! Having a drivers license, I am now babysitting more, which is great, but time consuming. And on top of all this, I am in the midst of planning my sweet 16. Needless to say, I currently have a lot going on and am not in my usual schedule of blog- well, anything really!
Just thought I'd fill you in on where I've been and to look forward to seeing more on Sweet Potato Pi!

Outfit: Tasseled Top

I went thrift shopping a few days before camp to pick up some dress up clothes and came across this fun little top from J.Crew (with the original tags still on it!) I was so thrilled! I mean, hot pink tassels and sequins, AND $14? It was a no brainer. I immediately threw it on and snapped a few pictures of it so I would have an outfit to post when I get back from camp. Looking back at these pictures, my hair is so much longer now, wow!

Summer Camp Recap

 

Hey y'all! After 5 short weeks, I am home! This year was honestly the best yet. I got to know and become closer with many girls, younger and older. We all had so much fun laughing and crying and having D.M.C. 's (Deep Meaningful Conversations). Camp is such a blessing and I cannot imagine my life without it! With this year being so great I have decided to go back next year for my last summer as a camper. I can't wait! 

I have been slowly getting back into the routine of things around here, including blogging.  Just know that it is a hard transition for me to come back to reality but I am super pumped for my senior year and  for blogging!
